StarCraft II: Heart of the Swarm Update

Since everyone's had a few months to play through StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty at this point it's going to be difficult to avoid spoiling things too much when talking about the next chapter. Called Heart of the Swarm, it'll be the second of three campaigns that comprise the entirety of StarCraft II.

At BlizzCon 2010 during a story Q&A panel, a few very limited details were divulged. First, regarding the timeline of Heart of the Swarm, Blizzard was able to confirm that it will take place after the events of Wings of Liberty. It will be less than 100 years after, but greater than one hour.

Also, since many were left asking where Samir Duran was following Wings of Liberty's ending, Blizzard mentioned he has not been forgotten, implying he may show up again further down the line. If you didn't play the Brood War expansion to the original and don't know how Duran is, then it's enough to say that he was working on the Zerg / Protoss hybrids that are poised to play a central role in future StarCraft II.

Also, regarding an actual release date, this one sounds like it'll be a pretty long way off. According to Blizzard's Chris Sigaty, the game probably won't be ready until after 2011.

Unfortunately that's pretty much all we've heard about the game so far, but will update with any more details should they become available. Knowing Blizzard, it could be a while.
