Gearbox: SEGA "Jumped The Gun" On Aliens: Colonial Marines News

Gearbox Software has hardly been a stranger to delaying its games over the years - Brothers in Arms: Hell's Highway was originally scheduled for late 2006 but eventually came out two years later. However, according to the developer, publisher SEGA is at fault for the ongoing delay of Aliens: Colonial Marines.
"In its excitement SEGA jumped the gun a little with the announcement of Aliens: Colonial Marines," Gearbox CEO, Randy Pitchford told Now Gamer. "I know it's been 'radio silent' for long and we know that must be frustrating for some people, but the game was announced too soon."
"There was so much excitement and I know a lot has changed at SEGA, but they were very excited, they did the deal with Fox and before the ink was even dry they issued a press release announcing it," Pitchford continued.
"At the time we hadn't written a single line of code yet. It takes time to build games, but it's going great and I'm very excited about it. It won't be long before we break radio silence and we're able to show it."
Aliens: Colonial Marines was announced at the tail-end of 2006 and subsequently given a late 2008 release window. It was then delayed and delayed again, effectively pushing the title into a very uncertain 2011 window (at the earliest). At the very least, Gearbox is definitely still working on it...
